I specialize in copyediting and proofreading nonfiction manuscripts, articles, business documents, and branding projects. I work on a wide range of genres, such as academic, business, self-help, history, educational, and memoir.

Types of Services

Before you hire an editor—whether me or someone else—it’ll help to be familiar with the lingo.

Since the industry uses terms for specific stages of the publishing process (what one person calls proofreading, another calls copyediting, etc.), I’ve written about the various types of editing to help you decide what your work needs at this moment and the next.

Types of Works

I copyedit and proofread nonfiction manuscripts, articles, business documents, and branding projects.

I also offer interior layout design for books, e-books, journals, magazines, business reports and documents, and other materials.

I work exclusively with nonfiction books; articles for journals, magazines, and websites; blog posts; business and marketing material; and more. I edit and proofread a wide range of genres:

  • business
  • academic
  • self-help
  • professional development
  • psychology
  • sociology
  • philosophy
  • history
  • social commentary
  • natural sciences
  • social justice
  • educational
  • memoir
  • cookbooks

And if you don’t see your genre here, I can still talk more about your project. Part of my job is to act as the eyes of the reader who may not be as familiar with your topic as you are. My lack of formal training in specific fields often helps to ensure your message is as clear as possible to all your potential readers.

Since each project is different, I don’t list fees. When it comes to rates, I typically follow the Editorial Freelancers Association rates. I give a project-based fee after a consultation and sample edit, if applicable.

Free Consultations

If you are interested in working with me, let’s chat! I offer prospective clients a free 30-minute consultation, and we can see if we’re a good fit. I’ll ask for the length of work (double-spaced page count or word count), your time frame, the depth of review you’d like, and your areas of concern.

If you’d like a free consultation, use the form on the contact page.

Sample Edits

After we chat, I can do a free sample edit for new clients too. This way you can see if we’ll be a good fit together.

When authors take me up on this, I ask for a sample section from the middle of their work and do a handful of pages, depending on the document’s size. I don’t typically do more than five pages of editing, and if it’s a short piece, one standard manuscript page.

I like to thoroughly understand what you’re looking for in an editor before I get started, so let us know which form of editing you’re looking for. And if you don’t have any idea—no worries! I can help with that too.

Additional Rates and Fees

If you need a project done sooner than we originally agreed, there will be a rush fee as needed. If the scope of the work has changed, fees will be adjusted.
